Central Park

Central ParkBrogan preps for Central Park run.

Jill Brogan of Melrose, will be running in the sixth-annual More/Fitness Marathon + Half-Marathon on April 26, in New York City’s Central Park. The race is executed in partnership with New York Road Runners and presented by Aquaphor Healing Ointment with product sponsors MBT and Silk Soy. With a combined outreach to over seven and a half million readers, the goal for More and Fitness is to host the largest community of female runners by attracting women from across the country and the world.

Brogan, 46, will be running the half marathon alongside 13 other women who train together at the Melrose Boot Camp. This will be the longest race that Jill has ever run. She used to run a lot in her 20’s and 30’s, but being and mom and working full time made it nearly impossible for her to keep it up. Now she’s back to running regularly and looking forward to the challenge of a half marathon.

More than 9,100 women are expected to participate in the race. The full 26.2-mile More/Fitness Marathon is open to female runners ages 40 and up, and women of all ages are welcomed to run or walk in the Half-Marathon.

The long weekend of events kicks off, April 24-25 with a two-day Health + Wellness Expo at the Altman Building, where women can enjoy a wealth of health-oriented activities, pick up their runners’ bags and bibs, and meet magazine editors and running experts. The Expo is free to the public and will feature health screenings, fitness seminars, product sampling, sweepstakes and more. In addition, weekend events will include a pre-race pasta party at Tavern on the Green the evening before the race.

Additionally, on race day, supporters and park goers can visit the Sponsor Pavilion to enjoy live music, complimentary samples, sweepstakes, and stretching sessions led by health club partner Bally Total Fitness.
